Marriage – A Life Long Tie

Like every other one of God’s good gifts entrusted to the keeping of humanity, marriage has been perverted by sin; MB 100.00

Not long after the fall, the happy and sacred condition of the family was perverted.  God ordained that man should have only one wife, but the people before the flood gave up God’s appointed ways.  Consider this example:

And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zilah.  Genesis 4:19 Continue reading

Divorce and Remarriage is it ever legitimate?

DIVORCE. – A correspondent sends to the Office the following request: “Will you give your opinion in regard to divorces, as there are some that do not feel satisfied on this subject?” {April 15, 1862 JWe, ARSH 160.1}

ANSWER. – We think that for one cause, that mentioned by our Lord as recorded in Matt.xix,9, divorce may lawfully be obtained, and that the parties divorced are as free as if the marriage contract had never existed between them. Some have drawn what are evidently extreme views from Paul’s language in Rom.vii,1-3. But Paul is there only giving us an illustration, and not laying down rules in regard to the marriage relation. To enforce his illustration, he takes the general rule; and it would be by no means proper for him in that connection to go out of his way to state exceptions. U. Remarriage in the Light of the Inspired Word

Some quotes and statements taken from the book “Remarriage in the Light of the Inspired Wordy” by E. Marianne Myhre, MA

Marriage was divinely established in Eden and affirmed by Jesus to be a lifelong union between a man and a woman in loving companionship. For the Christian a marriage commitment is to God as well as to the spouse, and should be entered into only between partners who share a common faith. Mutual love, honor, respect, and responsibility are the fabric of this relationship, which is to reflect the love, sanctity, closeness, and permanence of the relationship between Christ and His church. Regarding divorce, Jesus taught that the person who divorces a spouse, except for fornication, and marries another, commits adultery.

09 The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

Audio: mp3

Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. 8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. 9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed [are] they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

We are invited to come to the marriage supper of the lamb.  God designed that everything around us would send messages to us of himself so that where ever we looked or what we did would speak of him. That is what Gods design was.  If we consider that so that when wake up in the morning we would remember the resurrection of the dead.  Is that not what it is equated to?  Someone waking up out of sleep?  If we would wake up and say Lord, may I be part of the resurrection? Then you might look out of your window and you would see the sun rising and your mind would think;

Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the just [is] as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. Continue reading
