Israel and the Promised Land

Hebrews 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left [us] of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard [it].

God led Israel from Egypt. He worked mighty wonders. He led them through the red sea unto the borders of the Promised Land. They fell short of the fulfilment of the promise of God.  Today ancient Israel is still seeking the fulfilment of that promise. The land which was flowing with milk and honey now flows with war and bloodshed as the Jewish nation endeavours to gain the Promised Land. They will never gain the Promised Land because that is not what God promised them. God would lead them all the way. Yet today we find not just the Jewish nation but every nation leading themselves in that way which seemeth right but the ends there of is Armageddon.

Tall Poppy Syndrome

 Audio: mp3

Revelation 18:7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

The phrase the tall poppy syndrome is a phrase used in many commonwealth countries of Britain to describe one trying to outdo the rest.  The syndrome is a set of symptoms that show a disease.  Pride is something that you cannot nail down but it has symptoms, a syndrome.  The phrase a tall poppy syndrome came from Rome.  In the year 535BC the last king of Rome before Rome became a republic was Tarquinus.  He had a name that described him.  It was Tarquin the proud.  He had a son called prince Sextus.  Prince Sextus sent a messenger to King Tarquin.  It was a request of what he should do next in the city Gabi.  The messenger asked the king, what should your son do?  He didn’t answer but went into his garden and took a stick and cut down all the tall poppies in his garden.  The messenger went back and told the son what he had seen.  The son realised what he was to do.  To cut down and kill all the prominent people in his region.  That is what he did.  From that time, the saying of the tall poppy attitude came forward.  As the request was to cut down all the tall poppies in the town, he forgot to kill himself and his Father as they were tall poppies. They were proud people.  They only killed the people that were coming up close to their rank so they could stand out even greater. We read a very simular attitude by the Assyrians or Babylon.

The Urgency of Time

Audio: mp3 Part 1

Audio: mp3 Part 2

The Lord in His great mercy sent a most precious message to His people through Elders Waggoner and Jones. [SEE APPENDIX.] This message was to bring more prominently before the world the uplifted Saviour, the sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. It presented justification through faith in the Surety; it invited the people to receive the righteousness of Christ, which is made manifest in obedience to all the commandments of God. Many had lost sight of Jesus. They needed to have their eyes directed to His divine person, His merits, and His changeless love for the human family. All power is given into His hands, that He may dispense rich gifts unto men, imparting the priceless gift of His own righteousness to the helpless human agent. This is the message that God commanded to be given to the world. It is the third angel’s message, which is to be proclaimed with a loud voice, and attended with the outpouring of His Spirit in a large measure. {TM 91.2}

The Truth Hurts

Audio: mp3

The purpose of this study is that we will come away knowing the reason why truth hurts. I find it interesting that when the truth of the Bible comes to people, not everyone receives it with joy. Not everybody is happy to hear the truth as it is in Jesus.

If you reflect through history, the truth has caused a lot of problems. It’s caused a lot of fighting, persecution and killing. Even from the start, there was trouble between two brothers, Cain and Abel. Cain did not appreciate the truth or what his brother did. Abel’s work was righteous. The Bible tells us that is the reason why Cain killed his brother. People have often expressed that before the truth came along they actually had quite a nice life. They were happier, they enjoyed many more things and they had a lot more peace. Then when the truth came, they had struggles they never had before. They find out that they shouldn’t be doing this and they shouldn’t be doing that. There seem to be more restrictions than you can poke a stick. All these things burden the individual and they say, “Why, what’s all the go with the truth? I was better before the truth came along.” This is a Biblical fact that truth disturbs people. The truth is disturbing. Notice what the apostle has to say.

Romans 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

Before God’s commandments came along, before I had knowledge of right and wrong to the extent that God would have us know, my life was quite okay. I mean yes, there were troubles and I had difficulties, but all in all, it was okay.

Romans 7:9  …but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. 10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

This message is about Jesus coming to give eternal life. Sometimes we feel the only thing we get is death from hearing about this message of eternal life. “I feel condemned. I feel that I am a great, great sinner. I feel filthy and dirty. I feel like my habits are choking me to death and I can’t get out of them. I feel in bondage more than ever before since the truth came.”

How To Enter into Love Series, Study 5, Audio: mp3

Again we are considering this theme of entering into the state of love. As we go through, we will find that it is so intertwined each in one of these subjects, that one cannot really do without the other. They are so part and parcel of each other that it is like the body that has many parts and every part is necessary for the whole. Each section of love that we consider is of valuable importance and has a living connection with the other character traits.

Fear and Manipulation

Isaiah 8:11-13 For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying, Say ye not, A confederacy, to all [them to] whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid. Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and [let] him [be] your fear, and [let] him [be] your dread.

Are you waiting for a one world order? There is already a one world order. There is already one state with one government. That state has been since the days of paradise, since the days of Eden. It is the state of fear and fear is its dictator. Oh fair Eden, fair paradise! Declared by God Himself to be good, yea, but more, even very good. The dwelling place of Man created in the image of God, created in the image of Him who is love. See Him if you will. Man in his perfection, in his purity, in his innocence walking with his Creator in the cool of the day. How sweet is their communion, how close their friendship. What joy! What happiness! What peace and then see him run. Hear the pounding of his feet upon the ground, his rapid breathing as he makes his flight. The pounding of his heart as the adrenalin pumps through his veins, and then he is gone.

Our study is about how to obtain attributes in our character that we may be in a state of love that is not sentimentalism nor passion but a principle and a characteristic which is the foundation of heaven.  As we obtain this state of being it will be ministered unto us an entrance into this place, the kingdom of love.

Don’t Be Afraid of the Giants

Camron Schofield

Nature obeys God and his command.  His word is where his power is. When we read of creation we are not merely reading of God doing something. When we read of creation we are reading of God’s power. When we are reading of Gods power, what are we reading of? What is the power of God? The power of God is the gospel. When we study creation we are studying the gospel. The heathen know the gospel as it has been preached to them through creation and in the things of nature around them. When we read of God creating, we are reading of the gospel. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation so the gospel is what? Recreation.

Recreation

That is what the power of God is – to create and to recreate.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Darkness came? No. He said let there be light and there was light. There was nothing other than that which he said there to be.

Genesis 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 1:7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which [were] under the firmament from the waters which [were] above the firmament: and it was so.

Nothing else was so except that for which he had spoken. Creation goes on. God said and it was so. It was by God’s word that things came into existence, things that were not.

God created music because He likes music. Do you like music? Do you think that God likes to sing to music? Would you like to hear God sing? I would love to hear God sing. We are learning to fine tune into the voice of God.

God’s Orchestra

I want to look at Gods orchestra and the orchestra that He sings to. God has several different types of orchestras and we know that an orchestra is something that consists of a multitude of instruments and each instrument is played and produces a certain note, tone and sound and they combine to produce a symphony. God is the master conductor. As we look through history, we see God conducting His orchestra. We see nations rise and fall according to His music and orchestration according to what they would call His arrangement.

Six Days Shalt Thou Labor

Beware how you neglect secret prayer and a study of God’s word. These are your weapons against him who is striving to hinder your progress heavenward. The first neglect of prayer and Bible study makes easier the second neglect. The first resistance to the Spirit’s pleading prepares the way for the second resistance. Thus the heart is hardened, and the conscience seared.—(Messages to Young People, 96.) {Pr 181.4}

Prayer is the breath of the soul. It is the secret of spiritual power. No other means of grace can be substituted and the health of the soul be preserved. Prayer brings the heart into immediate contact with the Wellspring of life, and strengthens the sinew and muscle of the religious experience. Neglect the exercise of prayer, or engage in prayer spasmodically, now and then, as seems convenient, and you lose your hold on God. The spiritual faculties lose their vitality, the religious experience lacks health and vigor.—(Messages to Young People, 249, 250.) {Pr 182.1}

Babylon and the Church

We are endeavouring to consider the dangers that the church has faced through its centuries so that we can take heed lest we fall. Babylon is a name in prophecy of a harlot – Babylon the great, the mother of harlots. The policy of Babylon was to join truth and error together in a relationship that was unlawful, making the church a harlot. Worldliness is that which the church must come away from. This is what we want to seek to understand and in understanding the scriptures, we need to look at the past, because history repeats itself.

God’s Voice in His Word

Audio: mp3

I’m going to take something for granted tonight and that is that you all want to fine tune into God’s Voice. I’m assuming that is why we are here. If we want to fine tune into God’s voice, we need to make some adjustments, adjust the tuning knob so that we can get a stable communication from God to us. One of those adjustments that you can make is turn off your mobile phone. If your mobile phone is on, you can turn it off, it’s an easy adjustment. This will help you to tune in to what God is saying. Some other adjustments you can make are; Get some good nights sleep. If we are tempted to talk too late, remember that we’re defeating the purpose of being here. We need to have good sleep to be able to tune into what God is saying.

The Voice of God

Audio: mp3

Hebrews 3:7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, Today if ye will hear his voice, 8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness.

Do you realize that we actually wouldn’t want God to tell us? In this verse God spoke to people of all times and what happened to their hearts? They hardened their hearts. If you will hear His voice, don’t harden you heart. What God actually has to say to us is very unpleasant to our ears. It’s true but very unpleasant. We have a romantic view of Christianity where we often say all these love things to the Lord and think He’s just going to pour His words of love back to us. The Lord has business to do and to tell us exactly what mars our life and to point out exactly where our problems lie. Do you like it when someone comes up to you and tells you exactly where your problem is? Do we really especially when it’s the core problem and not the peripheries? We don’t mind if we have to polish up on a few other areas but when there is a core issue, we do not appreciate people telling us. In fact we harden our hearts and then we start making excuses and showing that sin is a necessity and we have to do it. We start justifying ourselves or giving reason for why we do things and all because we don’t like what we hear.

How many here when they pray would like God to speak to them in clear audible noise? Wouldn’t that be great? When you have an issue and you lay it before the Lord and say Lord, just tell me straight so I can just know exactly, often this discourages many Christians because when we pray we make audible noise and God doesn’t seem to do that and it’s really hard to have a relationship when one person talks and the other person doesn’t seem to talk. We would love God to tell us and talk to us in plain English.

A Sower Went Forth to Sow

Audio: mp3

Matthew 13:3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

For there to be the joy of the harvest, for there to be the harvest a sower must go forth to sow. For the harvest festival the singing, dancing and music a sower must go forth to sow. To realise that every time you wake up to put toast in the toaster and enjoy warm bread a sower went forth to sow. Every time you need some food to give you energy to give you activities for the day, every time you need food a sower went forth to sow. A soldier cannot go forth to fight unless a sower went forth to sow. A doctor cannot heal unless a sower sowed. If no one sowed we’d all be dead. If we could understand this, what a package of truth Jesus said. It is of vital importance that the preaching of the gospel is done on this planet.

What Has Diet Got to do with My Salvation?

Audio: mp3

When we talk about food and religion we get interesting mixes of opinions and thoughts. Some believe that we are saved by a special diet and some people say because we are saved we don’t need a special diet.

Health

Romans 14:2 For one believeth that he may eat all things:another, who is weak, eateth herbs. 3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth:for God hath received him. 4 Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up:for God is able to make him stand.

What has health got to do with our salvation? Has health got anything to do with our salvation? Am I saved by having a certain diet? Am I lost because I eat bacon? Am I saved because I don’t eat bacon? How does health and diet impact my spirituality? Many people are divided on the topic. Many texts are used to support that diet has nothing to do with our salvation. Classical texts that are used are Romans.

I believe Jesus is coming very soon. People can say that it has been said for years and years already, but the fact of the current condition of how many people don’t care, tells me that it is even closer.

Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noah [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matthew 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

The scripture in Matthew says they knew not until the flood came. They didn’t know and yet Noah was preaching for a hundred and twenty years and everyone knew the fact of what Noah was doing. It was a global happening of Noah building this boat. It was strange that Noah was a household name but yet the scripture says they knew not until the flood came.

Aspects of Christianity that People can easily Get Into

A few months ago I was speaking with a minister from another church and we were speaking about church standards, beliefs and standards of living. Like us they were very conservative, they had high standards, they have a prophet, we have a prophet and the prophet that we have – Ellen White – has given a lot of detail on standards. The Bible gives a lot of detail on standards. Moses gave a lot of detail on standards. Also their prophet gave a lot of detail on standards. We were speaking together and we were sharing different points of belief and Christian standards that we both believed in. In our conversation I brought up the Sabbath and they didn’t believe the Sabbath.

Isaiah 30:15 For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.

They are really nice promises that returning in rest we’ll be saved. Then there are these negative lines at the end ‘and you would not.’

They asked me a question; if someone doesn’t keep the Sabbath will they be lost? You have heard questions where you have a standard and someone said, ‘if you don’t do that standard are you lost?’ It sorts of puts you in a funny situation like this standard is the source of our salvation. Do you get that mentality coming across sometimes? They had standards and one of their standards was that they didn’t drink alcohol. Same as us, we don’t either. I asked him a question and said; do you believe that if someone drinks alcohol that they are lost? The response was yes. If you can’t obey the prophet how can you be saved? Is that true or not? Why would people be lost? They are lost because of disobedience.

This time is very clear in the scriptures, the time when the door is shut. In Luke it says when once the master of the house has risen up and has shut the door, then you begin to stand without. This event of shutting the door, the master of the house standing up is depicted in Daniel 12. The master, the archangel which is the master of angels; Michael stands up and then there will be a time of trouble such as never was. This time period is referred to in the Bible as the day of the Lord. It is not a twenty four hour period, but a day as in a time of the coming of the Lord. From the close of probation through to the seven last plagues being poured out; to the appearing of Jesus in the clouds is what the scripture shows is an event, the day of the Lord.

In the Church but Still in Babylon

Audio: mp3

There are two classes of people in the world, a majority and a minority. We will look at the majority. The majority is likened to a city. There are more people that live in the city than the country so the city incorporates the majority. Mexico City has 21 million living in one city which is more than the population of Australia.

Revelation 16:19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

Here is a majority in three parts. What are the three parts that incorporate the majority of the world?

Revelation 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs [come] out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

Here we have three divisions. The city was divided into three divisions and here is the dragon which is what? Paganism. The beast is Catholicism and the last one is apostate Protestantism, the false prophet. False Protestants. In these three divisions paganism is idolatry. It is worshipping something else other than the living God. In paganism is collected all the religions of the world bar two.

The Majority and the Minority

Catholicism is a mixture between pagan worship and Christianity. It is a blending of the two. The false prophet is the Christian faith that has gone into apostasy. These three segments incorporate the whole world. Everyone comes into one of these segments. The world is divided. There are Muslims against Christians and vice versa. The minority is united, not divided. They have one faith, one Lord and one baptism.

Adventists in Apostasy

Audio: mp3

Can such a thing happen? You might think yes. Of course there are certain Adventists that have gone into apostasy, they’ve left the church and they don’t come to church anymore, therefore they are in apostasy.

We often think when we have this question, Adventists in apostasy, immediately we look around at other people and think, ‘look what they are doing’ and all these bad things that people do proves that they are in apostasy. Today’s message is designed not to look at other people but to consider ourselves whether we are in apostasy or not. I believe that the word of God encourages us to examine ourselves whether we are in the faith. There is often too much examining about this and not enough of examining ourselves. The question is Adventist in apostasy, are you in apostasy?

Revelation 2:2 speaks of the beginning of the seven church periods in revelation. During the seven church periods there is a problem that appears at the beginning and at the end of the church.

The Name of God

Audio: mp3

There is a great blessing bestowed upon those who read and understand the book of Revelation. If we do this as it is in its purity we will be richly blessed but if we take something from this book, our names will be taken from the book of life. If we add to it, God will add to us the seven last plagues. In other words the book contains a huge blessing for those who read it as God intended and there is a huge curse upon those who disregard and change it. That should make us tremble. The Bible has a huge amount of power that we don’t want to disregard or read superficially. One major theme in the book of Revelation is the revelation of God’s people. As we look at the future written in this book, we can identify political financial and religious events so that we can identify where we are in relation to this book. Revelation 13 is a prophecy of the image of the beast that exercises all the power of the beast. History tells us that this beast is very terrible. The image of the beast exercises all the power of the first beast. It will command that all that don’t worship the beast to be killed. There will be no mercy in that decree. Then we come to Revelation 14:1.

Is Jesus Christ Michael the Arch Angel

Acts 7:30 And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush. 31 When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him, 32 Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold. 33 Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground. 34 I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt. 35 This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.36 He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years. 37 This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear. 38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us: Read the rest of this entry

Vegetarianism – A Test of Fellowship

Vegetarianism – A Test of Fellowship

By Peter Lausevic

The children of Israel were hoping for the eternal promises that were given by God. They were about to enter the Promised Land. It was in this context that God gave Israel the diet that was to benefit them. He wanted his nation to be representatives of truth to the world. It was promised to Abraham to be a blessing. If Israel accepted the principles of health reform, they would have been the nation that would have instructed the world. However, they failed and rejected the diet. Read the rest of this entry

Disease in animals

Isaiah 66:17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.
The candid reader, after a careful examination of the chapters from which we have quoted, will entertain doubts as to their application to the Jewish age. In fact, it is evident that they apply to the present age, and that the last quotation, with its threatened judgment for sins, such as eating swine’s flesh, applies definitely to the close of the present age.
Dr. Adam Clarke once said that if he were to offer a burnt-offering to the devil, he should choose a pig stuffed with tobacco. At one time, when invited to ask the blessing at the table, he used these words: “Lord, bless this bread, these vegetables and fruit; and if thou canst bless under the gospel what thou didst curse under the law, bless this swine’s flesh.”
God said of the flesh of swine in the days of Moses: “It is unclean unto you.” What change can have taken place to make it clean, and a proper article of food for Christians? Has God changed his mind on the subject? Has man so changed that what was unclean as an article of food for the Hebrews has become clean to Christians? Or, has the change taken place in the animal? Has the change from the Jewish dispensation improved the nature of hogs? And does the freedom of the world-wide proclamation of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ give liberty to Christians to eat those things which were an abomination if eaten by the Hebrews? Jesus – A Root out of a Dry Ground

Jesus: The Carrier

By Larry Kirkpatrick

Isaiah 53:4 Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.

Jesus carried our griefs and sorrows, and that he was considered God-cursed.

As we’ve considered our Lord in the previous verses of this chapter we’ve been almost shocked by the truth of not only His divinity, but yet more His humanity. He came as a Root out of dry ground, a divine character bearing the very flesh of a dry, twisted, fallen humanity. Never sinning (for we are plainly told that He was “in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” Hebrews 4:15), ever bearing in His body daily crucifixion of the nature He had taken, He walked through this world with one purpose: to glorify His Father by bringing the applied power of the gospel to the human race. His life offered, the benefits of the atonement applied, empowered God to be both just and Justifier in His redemption of man (Romans 3:26).

How deeply entwined in our salvation is the fact and nature of Jesus’ incarnation for us? We are not left in doubt. We are told unequivocally, “The humanity of the Son of God is everything to us” Selected Messages, vol. 1, p. 244. Who having studied out this issue, can disagree with J. R. Zurcher’s recently published work, Touched By His Feelings, from the Review and Herald Press, when he states: “The triumph of the plan of salvation depends entirely on the Incarnation, upon the Word becoming flesh, and upon the Son of God made into man” (Touched by His Feelings, p. 54)? I cannot. Did you ever read this, from the pen of Mrs. White: “The completeness of His humanity, the perfection of His divinity, form for us a strong ground upon which we may be brought into reconciliation with God” (Letter 35, 1894. Quoted also in SDABC vol. 7-A, p. 487). Read the rest of this entry

The Balm of Gilead in the Social Realm

In the creation of man, God has recognised a need which he has created;

Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. 19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought [them] unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that [was] the name thereof. 20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. 21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And Adam said, This [is] now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

God created man with a social fabric and Adam recognised there was none for him. He recognised in creation there was a partner for every creature but not for him. God said it was not good that man should be alone. God created the woman different from every other creation from which he created. God spoke by the Word of his mouth and it was done and it stood fast. The beasts of the field, the fowl of the air he created out of the dust of the earth and man also. But the help meet was created from something that was just coming into existence. He took from man and created another being to meet the need of that social fabric which he recognised. The woman was created different. She was created from the construction of the man. She was built for the man. Adam recognised this when he saw her. He said, this is bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh. She shall be called woman. Why? Because she was taken out of man. This was the perfect creation of God. Read the rest of this entry

If anyone ever wants to follow the Lord or have the privileges of being in the kingdom of heaven, then we must experience the cross. But this cross is not just easily experienced. It is easily said, but it is not easily experienced. It is a hard experience. In Luke 13 Christ gave His experience and He likened it to a strait gate, a gate which was difficult to enter into. Someone came up to the Lord:

Luke 13:23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, 24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. Read the rest of this entry

In Heavenly Places

The Creation of the World

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Who created the heaven and the earth? God created the heavens and the earth.

The Godhead and the Holy Spirit Part 1

By Tony Rykers

Today there is a tremendous amount of discussion and conjecture about who or what the Holy Spirit is. As Seventh-day Adventists we believe in the three persons of the Godhead, Father, Son and the Holy Spirit or as Ellen White says:

The Tares are Melted in the Church/Jerusalem

By Aria

In this time the gold will be separated from the dross in the church.—Testimonies for the Church 5:81 (1882). – {LDE 173.6}

According to Jewish tradition Ezekiel was the founder of the synagogue. You won’t find the word synagogue anywhere in the Old Testament but there are plenty of references to it in the New Testament. Where did Synagogues come from? They were a place of instruction and where legal decisions could be made. The synagogue was important to Jewish survival during the Captivity and so we find Ezekiel in Babylon and it would seem that this is where the synagogue was first founded. But there were no sacrifices there, as these had to be performed only in the temple. Ellen White says we should study the book of Ezekiel which it has been said, is the story of the Seventh Day Adventist movement and generally the church in particular. She says that chapter 9 is the chapter that will be fulfilled to the letter and some of the events portrayed there are very sad events. Read the rest of this entry

Marriage – A Life Long Tie

Like every other one of God’s good gifts entrusted to the keeping of humanity, marriage has been perverted by sin; MB 100.00

Not long after the fall, the happy and sacred condition of the family was perverted.  God ordained that man should have only one wife, but the people before the flood gave up God’s appointed ways.  Consider this example:

Divorce and Remarriage is it ever legitimate?

DIVORCE. – A correspondent sends to the Office the following request: “Will you give your opinion in regard to divorces, as there are some that do not feel satisfied on this subject?” {April 15, 1862 JWe, ARSH 160.1}

ANSWER. – We think that for one cause, that mentioned by our Lord as recorded in Matt.xix,9, divorce may lawfully be obtained, and that the parties divorced are as free as if the marriage contract had never existed between them. Some have drawn what are evidently extreme views from Paul’s language in Rom.vii,1-3. But Paul is there only giving us an illustration, and not laying down rules in regard to the marriage relation. To enforce his illustration, he takes the general rule; and it would be by no means proper for him in that connection to go out of his way to state exceptions. U. Remarriage in the Light of the Inspired Word

Some quotes and statements taken from the book “Remarriage in the Light of the Inspired Wordy” by E. Marianne Myhre, MA

Marriage was divinely established in Eden and affirmed by Jesus to be a lifelong union between a man and a woman in loving companionship. For the Christian a marriage commitment is to God as well as to the spouse, and should be entered into only between partners who share a common faith. Mutual love, honor, respect, and responsibility are the fabric of this relationship, which is to reflect the love, sanctity, closeness, and permanence of the relationship between Christ and His church. Regarding divorce, Jesus taught that the person who divorces a spouse, except for fornication, and marries another, commits adultery.

06 The Harvest

mp3 The Harvest

We must by willing to take up our cross and deny ourselves and follow Jesus for the path of faith requires a lot of hardship. We will be tested and we tried just like Jesus. Although we are crucified with Christ nevertheless we live yet not we but Christ lives in us. The life we want to live must be lived by the faith of the Son of God. If we will not live by faith we will be overwhelmed by the troubles that Christians and non- Christians alike will receive. No one is exempt. The Christian also receives chastening from God the Father for it says that any branch that brings forth fruit is pruned so it can bring forth more fruit. God’s obedient children are still under the discipline of the loving heavenly Father. That discipline is difficult. We have the privilege of reading the things that will be done to us. We will receive persecution and dark experiences. If we read our Bibles we will see the things written a foretime are written for our learning that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope (Romans 15:4) Jesus prayed to His Father that He would send another Comforter the Holy Ghost. Do you know why the Holy Ghost is a Comforter? It’s because He will show you everything Jesus has said and when he comes he will:

04 The Planting of Faith

Living Faith Seminar, Study 4, Audio: 04 The Planting of Faith

If we had been buried with him in baptism we’ll also be raised with him in the newness of life. The symbol of baptism is to depict the death that one is making because of the nature that they find themselves in. When the law has done its work the soul is in a pit of misery and as the soul realises it utter weakness and all it can do is cry. When someone cries, it’s always the loudest when they’re about to die. In that last bit of energy when you call out to the name of the Lord you will be saved. If you were in a comfortable situation and call out ‘help’ with real enthusiasm, how well could you do it? What if you were at the bottom of a cliff? The waves are raging and someone is listening, how loud would you cry? The circumstance creates the energy. You can’t fake it. When the shadows of death creep over you something changes in you and you can call out like nothing. That is what it means when it says ‘He that calleth on the name of the Lord shall be saved’. This is Jesus prayer on the cross. You can verify it from the context of the whole chapter.

01 What is Faith? Defining the Term

Audio: mp3

It is my personal desire to be ready when Jesus comes. I desire that we can all be translated. The day of the Lord is something that Christians look forward to but it is actually a day of wrath. At such a time when the consequences get unleashed upon the heads of those who do not regard God, it is a dreadful day. It’s called the day of God’s wrath. It’s a day of darkness. Who shall abide in the day of His coming? Who shall stand at the day of His appearing? There was a man who was translated, Enoch. He had this testimony, that he pleased God. Of all the times, it is best to please God in the day of His wrath. By faith Enoch was translated. If we desire to be translated, it must also be by faith.

The Sabbath day was given to us by God for a purpose. One of the purposes is to know he created the world in six days. It is to remind us from where we came. We can read that in Exodus 20. In Deuteronomy the reason for keeping the Sabbath is because the Lord bought us out of Egypt. The Sabbath is meant to do two things, not just to dwell upon God’s creation and his power in the origin of our world, but also to dwell upon the fact he has and is bringing us out of the world, out of Egypt. The Sabbath is a day to remember these things. He said remember the Sabbath to keep it holy because he doesn’t want us to forget the Sabbath. Read the rest of this entry

Wine and the Bible

H. Kellogg, M.D.

‘And be not drunk with wine. wherein is excess but be filled with the Spirit.” Eph. 5: 18

Among civilized nations, the Bible is almost universally admitted to be at least an admirable code of morals, even by those who do not regard it as an inspired book. An authority held in such high esteem would necessarily have very great influence in molding the judgments of men and forming their opinions. It is for the purpose of gaining the support of this generally accepted authority that the adherents of any special theory or doctrine appeal to the Scriptures for testimony in favor of the same. It need not be at all surprising, then, that the language of Holy Writ should often be grossly perverted by enthusiasts and unscrupulous persons in their attempts to find for their pet theories the needed endorsement. Illustrations of this use of the Scriptures are very abundant. A large class of modern agitators who call themselves “social reformers,” and have made themselves notorious by the laxity of morals advocated and practicing by them, claim to find in the Word of God license for their immorality. Polygamists, likewise, appeal to inspiration in support of their unchristian practice. Only a few years ago, American slavery received from thousands of pulpits a most vigorous support, which claimed to have the sanction of divine authority. Read the rest of this entry

The Caliphate is Coming – The King of the North

The following is from a Turkish editor, of a paper called the Vakit:

“We shall do our utmost to keep England’s support; but at last, if we do not succeed in it, then it is very easy to know what we have to do. When Europe will not look at us, then we shall lay aside all the European customs which we have adopted, and enter our own old way; form the boy of thirteen to the old man of seventy-five, everyone one of us will be armed, and we shall defend by the will of God, and by the daring of the old days, the country we have held for five hundred years.  And if the issue should come to this, as Islamism is not confined to Turkey, then we will blend all the different Moslem races into one ; the Moslems of India, of Central Asia, of the Caucasus, of Africa, and of Algeria will come forward, and we shall again take measures which we once adopted for the conquest of Jerusalem. We shall send proclamations everywhere, and declare a general war against Christendom…. Then it will not be possible to subjugate 120,000,000 Moslems by 90,000,000 solders. If the Moslems all over the world rise to defend their sacred religion, and if the treasure accumulated every year at Mecca is disposed of for the protection of the Mohammedan faith, then the scenes of ancient European wars, where the Moslems were both victorious and destructive, will be repeated, and the progress and civilization of centuries will be destroyed.”

It is our opinion that any power that reigns over Syria is – for the time being – “the king of the north,” spoken of [in] Daniel XI; hence that the Turkish Dynasty is now [1854] that power. If Russia, Austria, England, or France should become possessed of supreme power over Syria, then it – which ever it might be – would become “the king of the north.” Till then none but the Turkish Dynasty occupies that position, in our opinion. James White, Review and Herald, Dec. 12, 1854

If Daniel 11:40-45 is literal, then the power represented here cannot be the papacy as most suppose. Therefore, it must be another power that comes into play just before probation closes. We all know the papacy is behind all the evil that is being perpetrated, so it has to be behind this power and instigating its movements, although Islam has gotten out of control and the papacy is trying very hard to regain that control. Pope Benedict NOT the 7th Pope of Revelation – the seven heads are not seven popes, but seven forms of the Roman empire/system of government

rome

There is much speculation going about that the resignation of Pope Benedict relates to Revelation 17:8-11 and that we are at the time of the eighth pope and it will be the last pope. That is not what the Bible declares:

Revelation 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. 9 And here [is] the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. 10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, [and] the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. 11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

The beast that the woman sat on was seven hills and the seven hills were seven kings. What city has seven hills? Rome. The seven kings, five are fallen one is and one is to come. Rome had seven different types of leadership? 753BC Rome was a kingdom and a kingdom has what?

They had a king and it made them no different to any other kingdom in the world but the Bible says when they took supremacy over the world they were diverse form the rest. Why were they diverse? In 508 Rome became a
republic. They had an election. They elected a president or a dictator.

The Use of the Tabret or Drum

Genesis 31:26 And Laban said to Jacob, What hast thou done, that thou hast stolen away unawares to me, and carried away my daughters, as captives [taken] with the sword? 31:27 Wherefore didst thou flee away secretly, and steal away from me; and didst not tell me, that I might have sent thee away with mirth, and with songs, with tabret, and with harp?

Jacob left in the night and after Laban woke up realising he was gone and he chased after Jacob and he said, why did you leave?  We could have had some celebration with drums and we could have said goodbye in that way.  Does that establish a doctrine?  No, it’s one text. Also, the noise of the tabrets, drums and tambourine’s ceasing at the desolation of the earth has nothing to do with doctrine. Read the rest of this entry

From the only authentic likeness of our Saviour, cut on an emerald by command of Tiberius Caesar, and given later to pope innocent VII from the treasury at Constantinople, by the emperor of the Turks, for the ransom of his brother, then a captive of the “christians”.

Interestingly, there must be a strong resemblance of this picture to Jesus, as he appeared on this earth, because Ellen G. White, was greatly impressed.

She was the prophet that saw Jesus many times in vision, and the person who wrote this story of the crucifixion in 1884.

This is the personal testimony from the letter of Abbie Kellogg Norton, dated March 19, 1935. —>

“I well recall seeing Brother and Sister White coming to our home many times when I was a child – probably in 1878-79 or 1880-81, and Sister White never failed to comment upon the picture and its likeness to the Saviour as she has seen him in visions. I think her exact words were,

“Yes, yes, it looks as I’ve seen our Saviour in visions – it’s more nearly a likeness than anything I have ever seen.”

Of course, it made a great impression on us all. Not long before my mother died, she retold this story to some of the brethren and sisters in Mountain View, California.”

I can add my personal testimony as I have seen this picture hanging on a bedroom wall at Elmshaven in Deer Park, California. Ellen White’s granddaughter showed it to us and told about Ellen White’s comments, that it was a great likeness to what she had seen in vision.

Melchisedec the King of Peace, the Holy Spirit

Melchisedec the King of Peace, the King Of Righteousness, the Holy Spirit (Hebrews 7:2 & 3)

We read in the holy writings that the Holy Spirit is an eternal heavenly being. He is called the Comforter but He is also called the third person of the Godhead. The Holy Spirit is a very real eternal being himself and not just part of the other two personages of the Godhead, God the Father or God the Son or some essence that floats around from off of them. The three of them are all in co-partnership. The Bible teaches that the Father is the Most High as He is called that all through the Old Testament’s book of Daniel. Examples of the many places recorded there are such verses as Dan.4:24 and 34, 7:18, 22, and 27 to show just a few. In the New Testament a second witness is John who records for us more words on it. The False Doctrine of the 2520

There are individuals today that will take a figure that was on William Millers chart and they will use that figure as a means of saying if you do not believe in this number called the 2520, you are an apostate.  There are certain individuals saying that.  There are Adventists today that go around saying there is a 2520 prophecy.  We have fallen away from the truth God has given us as a people. We were taught how to study the Bible. The Spirit of God leads us line upon line, precept upon precept but most people took a chart with a number on it and took an abstract quotation from the Spirit of Prophecy where Ellen White spoke highly of the chart and nothing should be altered on it but they DID NOT FINISH the statement. She said nothing should be altered on it accept by inspiration. In other words, if inspiration says something on this chart was wrong, then they have an authority to remove it.   People forgot about that so they went around talking about a 2520 and allowing groups and camps to come together and it became an instrument that the devil used to create a segregation among the people of God.  In a time where were 71 times in the Spirit of Prophecy we are told to press together, press together, press together, there are individuals trying to separate over something that doesn’t even exist.

A Suit and a Tie

“It goes without saying that a right tie completes men’s outfit and can literally work wonders. Suppose you see a man, an anchor, a businessman, or a politician on the TV; ask yourself what draws your attention first of all? I bet your answer is “their face.” What is the next – their tie?”  Antonio Centeno, President at A Tailored Suit, Austin, Texas

Why Do Some Men Complain About Having To Wear A Tie?

“In the 1960s, there was a definite lapse in the inclination of men to wear ties, as a result of the rebellion against both tradition and the formality of dress. But by the mid-1970s, this trend had reversed itself. Ties have been used to proclaim status, occupation, and even identity, as well as allegiance to a group or cause, often military. Neckwear has also had utilitarian purposes—to protect the neck or hide buttons on a shirt.”

Everything worn by the priest was to be whole and without blemish. By those beautiful official garments was represented the character of the great antitype, Jesus Christ. Nothing but perfection, in dress and attitude, in word and spirit, could be acceptable to God. He is holy, and His glory and perfection must be represented by the earthly service. Nothing but perfection could properly represent the sacredness of the heavenly service. Finite man might rend his own heart by showing a contrite and humble spirit. This God would discern. But no rent must be made in the priestly robes, for this would mar the representation of heavenly things. The high priest who dared to appear in holy office, and engage in the service of the sanctuary, with a rent robe, was looked upon as having severed himself from God. By rending his garment he cut himself off from being a representative character. He was no longer accepted by God as an officiating priest. This course of action, as exhibited by Caiaphas, showed human passion, human imperfection.  {DA 709.1} Read the rest of this entry

Head Coverings and Women

This whole Corinthians discussion by Paul is not a discussion about head coverings, either literal or figurative, but about the authority of a man over his wife. It was a discussion of the roles of men and women, and the line of authority: God, Christ, the man, the woman. If it was talking about a physical head covering, then how do you explain the statement by Paul (vs 4) that if a man covers his head, he dishonours it.

But God covered the heads of the priests with turbans in the earthly sanctuary, and their dress (including the head covering) was given them for “glory and beauty”. If it was dishonouring in the Christian church time, why was it considered glory and beauty in Israel’s time? God doesn’t change. Notice that none of the “covering” root Greek words are words for a literal head covering until it gets to verse 15, where it talks about the literal head covering of a woman’s long hair. The Procession

By Hal Mayer, Audio: The Procession

2 Thessalonians 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth [will let], until he be taken out of the way.

2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

2:9 [Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

This is a story found in Testimonies to the Church Volume 1 concerning an experience that Ellen White and her husband had with the leading brethren in Battle Creek. It is worth considering in this juncture of our history. It involves three specific dreams and vision.  It has lessons that are poignant for us especially in light of trials we currently face and in the near future. These four revelations were meant for both Ellen White and for us to explain to her some things about the church she knew in her day and to explain to us how Gods faithful people will be viewed by their fellow churches as we approach and go through the time of trouble. In a sense the dreams are prophetic.  They reveal something about Gods way of preparing us for the time of trouble and they will tell us something about the purposes of God in allowing such difficulties to arise between brethren who should be working unitedly together.  One of these dreams reveals the motivation that drives certain human elements in the last days. The other reveals the divine purpose towards Gods faithful commandment keeping people in the same event. Read the rest of this entry

Minneapolis 1888

For more than 100 years Seventh-day Adventists have looked back at the 1888 General Conference session as a milestone in their history, a major turning point in their theological development. It is considered the most important theological conference in the church’s history. Though lasting less than a month, both the Minneapolis session (Oct. 17-Nov. 4) and the ministerial institute that preceded it (Oct. 10-16) changed the shape of Adventism.

The Leaven of the Pharisees Part 1

Audio: mp3

A Warning

If you ever go into a yard you will see a sign saying ‘Beware of the Dog’. Most people are often wary of the dog because if they go in they expect the dog to come out and eat them up. It is very unwise to neglect a warning sign.

Luke 12:1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trod one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

Are you aware of hypocrisy? Jesus was talking to his disciples not the Pharisees. I hope we can gain an understanding of what hypocrisy is so we do not follow that path. The Bible gives a description of hypocrisy in Matthew. Mathew 23 is given to hypocrites, the woes upon the hypocrites. We need to be aware of hypocrisy so we can gain lessons for ourselves.

Matthew 23:1 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, 2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: 3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, [that] observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. :4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay [them] on men’s shoulders; but they [themselves] will not move them with one of their fingers. 5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, 6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, 7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. 8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, [even] Christ; and all ye are brethren. 9 And call no [man] your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. 10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, [even] Christ. 11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. Why Ellen White said do not make dress and diet a test and what she really meant

Should meat eating be a test of fellowship?

Many Seventh Day Adventists aren’t aware that Ellen White wrote a letter to A G Daniels urging him to circulate it for all to sign a pledge to dispense with meat eating.  He refused to circulate the letter so Ellen White then had to make the statement, we can’t make meat eating a test because the GC leadership were still eating it so we can’t enforce it on the people.   Isaiah 22:12-14 states clearly that eating clean meat in the day of atonement is a sin that God won’t purge;  http://sabbathsermons.com/2009/08/20/the-bible-reason-for-vegetarianism/

03 Sealed In The Forehead

 Audio: Sealed in the Forehead

When something bad happens man always seems to look for a way out. A way so they can still do what they do but do it without being affected. In 1755 there was a great earthquake. It struck on a holy day, the churches were full. They used candles and the buildings came tumbling down. The candles caused a fire. Those that survived the earthquake had to deal with the fire. The people then went to the ocean shore and then they had to deal with a tsunami. Humans always want to run away from something bad. After the New Zealand earthquake, many have left New Zealand. That is the nature of man.

The Characteristics of the 144,000 and the 144 Facets of a Diamond

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

As a young Christian walking in the light of truth finally, I look at the scriptures and I look at them continually and there are many scriptures I pass over with little understanding. There are many realities I do not see until I implore the Lord to guide me into all the truth. We all have this experience and the fact is there are certain phrases in the Bible that would seem not right. As we see from 2 Timothy all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is necessary for instruction. Luke 19 describes the scene a few days before the Passover. It describes the multitudes on the road. There would have been millions of people on the roads all going to one place, Jerusalem. There were at least two realities of which people were going there for and one was that some people want to crown their Lord and saviour Jesus and go from the Roman bondage they were under. It was expected that he was going to be crowned king. We look at some of the people that were on the road.

Luke 19:38 Saying, Blessed [be] the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. 39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. 40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

I don’t think i would be rebuked if I had said to you that I have looked at that verse many times and seen the stones would cry out? I thought it was funny to think that a stone would cry out. From 2 Timothy We see there are no fill in gaps, every word of every phrase of every paragraph is given for a specific reason. If the stones would cry out, what would they say? How would they say it? Would it be rattling’s and indistinct noises that you would expect from stones? Would it be an audible reality that we would hear? Maybe it wouldn’t be words or something else. Maybe a reflection of this stone that we would look at it and see something. What will the stones say? This is our study. In looking at the characteristics of the 144,000 I’m aware of my vocation in life. That was to know the reality of precious things, the amalgamation of metals, the use of stones and all things we would find in the jewellery area. In looking at that, I would find there is a stone there that would bring out this reality.

Dress Reform and Physiology

There are many different things that we talk about when it comes to health but there is one area that a lot of times we don’t consider yet it is one of the areas that science is confirming that the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy showed us a long time ago that would affect our health and that is the subject of dress.

In many respects allot of individuals are not aware that our dress can actually affect our health. What we would like to do is take a few moments so we can study the subject out and to see it from the Word of God. Read the rest of this entry

Did Jesus Need to Study the Bible?

We need to look to Jesus in order to know how to exercise faith.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

For us to be Christians we need to live by the faith of Jesus.  That requires us looking at him in order to see how it is that he went through his life.  Jesus made a statement as his mission. His whole purpose of living was this.

John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.  Read the rest of this entry

The Original Attitude Toward the Lord’s Supper

The Signs of the Times, August 6, 1885

It has been remarked that it is quite uniformly believed that baptism is an initiatory rite. It is therefore not a church ordinance in the same sense the Lord’s Supper is a church ordinance.  The supper is for those only who are fully church members, and it is to be celebrated repeatedly; of this it is said: “As often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come” (1 Corinthians 11:26).  Read the rest of this entry

03 The Ground Work of Faith

Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

To plant a seed you need to prepare the ground. Are we wiser in planting seeds than in preparing our hearts?

The acceptance of Christ’s atonement is the groundwork of true faith. {OHC 117.3}

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 3 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Before we can receive faith something needs to happen to us and that is out of our control. We can’t get it for ourselves. Read the rest of this entry

Living Faith Seminar, Audio:  The Author of Our Faith

What is our hope? Jesus Christ, the hope of glory to have Christ within us. Belief is receiving into the heart those things that God has given us. The grace of God is the Holy Spirit, the gift that comes as a result of receiving the gift of Jesus Christ. By the Holy Spirit are given more gifts. The law are principles of behaviour, instinctive or written. Works are the product of the work that is done. We are created in Jesus Christ unto good works.

The Exhaustless Word of God

The Spirit of Grace in His Church

A little over six years ago I went for a walk with a very good friend of mine. I valued his opinion greatly. I considered him to be somewhat very wise and as I walked with him he said to me, you are not going to go to heaven. I thought what sort of a friend was that? Being the Seventh Day Adventist that I was I was highly offended that anyone would even dare to tell me something like that so I said to him, why not? Come on, tell me why? So he reasoned with me and said there is no rock and roll in heaven, there are no V8 Cars and he went through a list of things that were dear to me. He said God is a God of love not of force and when we come if you have a like for rock and roll and there is no rock and roll in heaven then he can’t take you to heaven because when you get to heaven and there is no rock and roll you are going to be very unhappy. He reasoned with me that when God comes if he was to reach into my mind any of my desires give or take, it would be force. As he talked he seemed to become very depressed with himself because he also liked rock and roll and cars.

Enough about Saturday, What about the Rest?

The Sabbath Rest

It would be a fearful thing to have been observing the Sabbath day all your life and find out that you never entered into the rest. There are people who say that we don’t need to keep the Sabbath day because that’s works. Well if you don’t enter into the rest it is works. But if you have entered into the rest, then it is not works, it’s rest. No one can conclude that resting is working because it’s not, it’s the exact opposite of it. Nevertheless there are people that know that fact and endeavour to observe Saturday or Sabbath and yet failed to enter into the rest. Therefore that is then works. The rest I want to talk about today is more than the mere physical rest than the Sabbath day because it is standard practice for Seventh Day Adventists to stop their daily labour on Friday after noon and observes the day of physical rest from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset but the rest that the Bible is talking about is far more than that. It includes a double application, a double blessing on the Sabbath day which is physical to testify to the spiritual. Therefore we need to fear lest we fail to enter into the rest. The Sin Against the Holy Spirit

The father rebuked his son and told him not to go. He scorned the rebuke. The young son said my brother has done this. The father said such was not my perfect will.

Angels from the Realms of Glory

0814024

There are many texts in the Bible which speak of God’s watch care over His children and of angel deliverances as well. There are recordings in the Old Testament of angels appearing in the form of men, to help and deliver God’s people. That must not only apply to Old Testament times, because we are instructed to;

“Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” Hebrews 13:2

“In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and He heard me.” Psalm 120:1

“I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and He heard me.” Psalm 3:4

“Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses.” Psalm 107:6

“Call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify Me.” Psalm 50:15

“He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.” Job 5:19

“The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them.” Psalm 34:7

“Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” Hebrews 13:2

“Do not neglect to show kindness to strangers; for, in this way, some, without knowing it, have had angels as their guests.” Hebrews 13:2 – Weymouth

“Are they [the angels] not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” Hebrews 1:14

“When His people shall be in the greatest danger, God will work in their behalf. Man’s extremity is God’s opportunity.” Selected Messages Book 2 373

“But the LORD is the true God, He is the living God, and an everlasting King.” Jeremiah 10:10

“That the Almighty does make use of human agencies, and directly intervenes in human affairs, is one of the plainest statements of the Bible. I have had so many evidences of this, so many instances of being ordered by some supernatural power, that I cannot doubt this power is of God.” President Abraham Lincoln

16 The Time of Trouble

Audio: The Time of Trouble

It is said of the 144,000 in their description that these are they which came out of great tribulation and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the lamb. It is one thing to have tribulation but another thing to come out of it. We can all go into it, it is not too hard to do that but to come out is a different story.

Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

To come out of great tribulation you have to be written in the book and it says the 144,000 came out of great tribulation as this tribulation is going to embrace the whole world whether you believe the Lord or not but there will be only 144,000 living saints when Jesus comes that have come out of the tribulation. Will you come out of tribulation? Perhaps you have tasted some tribulation. The thing that will determine if you come out of the tribulation or not is whether you get offended or not because God will come and take out of his kingdom all that offend and do iniquity. In Christendom people won’t stand up and say yes I’m a worker of iniquity. It is quite an obvious thing that you wouldn’t claim. Read the rest of this entry
