The Eastern Question – A Prophecy Revitalised

By Ken LeBrun, mp3

A hundred years ago the Eastern Question was one of the most talked about prophecies in the Bible among Seventh-day Adventists. Then it went into a period of decline where you didn’t hear much about it at all for decades. And now it is coming back into interest once again. In the following quotation, Ellen White was reporting on a camp meeting that was being conducted: Read the rest of this entry

Pagan and Papal Rome

Desolations of Pagan Rome

And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet. Matthew 24:6.

  • To see that when a nation such as Rome desolates another nation such as Judea, it will also be desolated
  • To behold once again God’s ability to predestine events by His divine foreknowledge
  • To watch as an empire melts into decay and changes its nature

The Princes of the North

By Gene Brown (used with permission)

Each Gospel is a supplement to the others, every prophecy an explanation of another, every truth a development of some other truth. Education, page 123

How shall we search the Scriptures? Shall we drive our stakes of doctrine one after another, and then try to make all Scripture meet our established opinions, or shall we take our ideas and views to the Scriptures, and measure our theories on every side by the Scriptures of truth? {RH, July 26, 1892 par. 3} Read the rest of this entry

The True Pioneer Position of the King of the North

By Gene Brown (used with permission)

Daniel 11:45 & Daniel 12:1

We need to come into unity on this subject, and the only way that will happen is if we accept the truth our pioneers established and build on the light that God has already given. It is imperative that we understand this prophecy.

Probation is soon to close, and “the final movements will be rapid ones”. “He [The person asking; what shall I do to inherit eternal life?] has a chart pointing out every waymark on the heavenward journey, and he ought not to guess at anything.” Great Controversy, page 598

The world is stirred with the spirit of war. The prophecy of the eleventh chapter of Daniel has nearly reached its complete fulfillment. Soon the scenes of trouble spoken of in the prophecies will take place.” Testimonies, vol. 9, page 14

“I am pained at my very heart; . . . I cannot hold my peace, because thou has heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war. Jeremiah 4:19 Read the rest of this entry

The King of the North and the Syria crisis

By Prof. Rodney Shakespeare

To its great credit Syria has had good relations between communities but all is being destroyed as the New World Order divides on its way to conquer. This is not only NWO policy but Zionist policy which wants to ensure that no Middle East country is strong enough to stand up against Israeli expansionism. Syrian Girl is telling it as it is. She is to be commended.” Read the rest of this entry

The Caliphate is Coming – The King of the North

The following is from a Turkish editor, of a paper called the Vakit:

“We shall do our utmost to keep England’s support; but at last, if we do not succeed in it, then it is very easy to know what we have to do. When Europe will not look at us, then we shall lay aside all the European customs which we have adopted, and enter our own old way; form the boy of thirteen to the old man of seventy-five, everyone one of us will be armed, and we shall defend by the will of God, and by the daring of the old days, the country we have held for five hundred years.  And if the issue should come to this, as Islamism is not confined to Turkey, then we will blend all the different Moslem races into one ; the Moslems of India, of Central Asia, of the Caucasus, of Africa, and of Algeria will come forward, and we shall again take measures which we once adopted for the conquest of Jerusalem. We shall send proclamations everywhere, and declare a general war against Christendom…. Then it will not be possible to subjugate 120,000,000 Moslems by 90,000,000 solders. If the Moslems all over the world rise to defend their sacred religion, and if the treasure accumulated every year at Mecca is disposed of for the protection of the Mohammedan faith, then the scenes of ancient European wars, where the Moslems were both victorious and destructive, will be repeated, and the progress and civilization of centuries will be destroyed.”

It is our opinion that any power that reigns over Syria is – for the time being – “the king of the north,” spoken of [in] Daniel XI; hence that the Turkish Dynasty is now [1854] that power. If Russia, Austria, England, or France should become possessed of supreme power over Syria, then it – which ever it might be – would become “the king of the north.” Till then none but the Turkish Dynasty occupies that position, in our opinion. James White, Review and Herald, Dec. 12, 1854

If Daniel 11:40-45 is literal, then the power represented here cannot be the papacy as most suppose. Therefore, it must be another power that comes into play just before probation closes. We all know the papacy is behind all the evil that is being perpetrated, so it has to be behind this power and instigating its movements, although Islam has gotten out of control and the papacy is trying very hard to regain that control. The Key to the King of the North

Who invaded Egypt at the time of the end 1798?  The French under the leadership of Napoleon. On the 5th of March following, Bonaparte received the decree of the Directory relative to the expedition against Egypt. He left Paris May 3 and set sail from Toulon the 29th, with a large naval armament consisting of 500 sail, carrying 40,000 soldiers and 10,000 sailors. July 5, Alexandria was taken, and immediately fortified.   Did the king of the south (Egyptian Mamelukes) push at him (Napoleon)?  In the battle of the pyramids the Mamelukes contested the field against the French. In the vision of Daniel 11 and 12 the king of the south is in all cases the kingdom that occupies Egypt the land south of Palestine.

The time of the end in all cases being the year 1798 and the king of the north in all cases being the power that occupies Egypt. In Daniel 11:5-15 the power occupying Egypt was the Ptolemaic dynasty.  In Dan 11:25 it was the Roman Power under the leadership of Mark Antony and Cleopatra.  While in Dan 11:40 it was the Mamelukes who ruled Egypt as a kingdom of the Ottoman Sultan.  This leads to the conclusion that the king of the north must be whatever power occupies the territories of Asia Minor, Syria and Mesopotamia (the land North of Palestine).  In Dan 11:6-15 it was the Seleucid dynasty while in Dan 11:40 it was the Ottoman Turks.

The King of the North is Not the Papacy

By George Burnside

Before me is a paper prepared by a group of Seventh day Adventist laymen. As I have been asked by several friends to answer some of the theories advanced, I feel I am duty bound to do so. The divine instruction is clear:

1 PETER 3:15 “Be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you.”

PROVERBS 15:28 “The heart of the religious studies to answer.”

So I will do my best to follow this instruction. On page two, near the bottom of the first column of the paper we read:- Read the rest of this entry
